Poem: Strange Dream

Self explanatory poem about surreal dreams that make no sense but remain vivid in the mind and you feel obliged to tell all and sundry about the peculiar flow of your mind overnight.

Poem: New

A poem about new love and infatuation. Those feelings that overwhelm the soul and mind and every breath that is taken sighs his or her name.

Poem: Standing Still At The Till

Some years ago I used to be a sales agent for various greetings cards and fine art print companies. On a visit to see the buyer at Birmingham Art Gallery I was told that a customer had written and complained about the spelling of the word stationery on her receipt. The word was shown as stationary – meaning standing still. The buyer and I thought this was very funny so on my next visit I presented her with this poem.

Poem: Spanish Barfly

This poem was conceived and written in the old La Tasca café in Nottingham. Before it closed and became Belgo I used to like going there because it reminded me of foreign holidays and for an hour I could dream I was abroad.

Poem: Blunt Razors

As an arts student I certainly did some daft things. Once I shaved my head to be like the other arty guys on my degree course. It was a painful experience!

Poem: Murderous Monotony.

This poem was created in the early 1980s when I was working full time in the butchery trade. My leisure hours were spent in enjoying amateur theatre and photography. This writing was a cry for help and I ended up nine years later doing a BA (hons) degree in Performance and Visual Arts.
